Greek Garlic Fries

June 1, 2013 by brenda 2 Comments

I’m sorry to all of the GAPsters and Paleo people out there. Yes, I’m posting FRENCH FRIES. Well, Greek Fries! See, we went to an adoption conference up in Redmond, Washington back in February. I texted a friend to ask what we could eat in the area that was at least gluten free. She sent me the name of this restaurant, and recommended that we get the Garlic Fries and the Shish Tawook. We did, and ohmygoodness. I craved these fries after that one time trying them. We went up to the Snohomish/Lake Stevens area in April, so that my husband could sing at his old high school again. While we were up there, we dragged his brother & his wife and our nephew down to Bellevue (about a 45 minute drive) to try this food with us…I liked it that much. The place isn’t fancy. It’s a little hole in the wall. But the food is tasty. (I did not ask specifics about what oils they fry in, etc., etc…I am sure that it’s not all super healthy….We cook as healthy as we can at home and indulge in less-than-perfect foods occasionally.). 🙂

Since I live about 3 1/2 hours away from the restaurant, I had to make up my own recipe. I had to. What else do you do with a craving? 🙂 This isn’t a particularly fancy or nutrient dense recipe, but I still wanted to share it. Wouldn’t you want to share something that tasted….um…looked this good?

Ok, so enough said, let’s get to the point.

Garlic Greek Fries

Ingredients:

2 bags organic frozen french fries (trust me, you don’t want potatoes that are not organic!)

1 recipe Homemade Tzatziki Sauce

1 recipe Homemade Honey Ketchup (or bottled ketchup without corn syrup)

1/2 cup or more crumbled Feta Cheese

Directions:

Bake the fries according to the package directions. Top with Tzatziki Sauce, Ketchup and Cheese. Serve!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

Just started the GAPS diet (Natasha McBride’s?) for my son with an autoimmune disorder. I thought it’s no potatos, not feta??
